How to Care for Your Raw Selvedge Denim

Raw selvedge denim is a living fabric. It shapes to your body, develops unique fading lines and whiskering over time, and tells the story of how you've worn it. To get the most out of your GW denim, follow these simple guidelines.

Wait before the first wash Wear your jeans for several months before washing them. This allows the fabric to mold naturally to your body and develop authentic creases, fades, and wear patterns that make each pair unique.

How to wash

  • Turn inside out before washing
  • Hand wash in cold water in a sink or basin
  • Use a mild detergent — no bleach
  • Do not wash with other garments

How to dry After washing, turn right side out and hang to dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Never wring the fabric — let the water drain naturally.

Never use a washing machine or dryer Heat and machine tumbling can shrink the denim excessively and damage the genuine leather back patch — a detail hand-sewn onto every pair of GW jeans.

Prefer dry cleaning? Take your jeans to a professional dry cleaner and specify they are made with raw selvedge denim, so they know how to treat them correctly.
